NoFollow Links Attribute: How To Remove The No Follow
Function in Your Blog
NoFollow links attribute is a small function, but has real big effects on your blog or website. The other day I came to learn the hard way that WordPress blogs or websites using WordPress templates have a “nofollow” attribute in comment function which is does not allow people to follow or comment on your blog. It is important that you have people commenting on your blog articles because you will be gaining backlinks, and without these links, your website or article will not be of any significance for Google when they rank websites.
You should or actually must remove the rel=”nofollow” attribute as your blog is your shop and you want people visiting and even purchasing or taking advantage of the services that you are offering. In addition you want to get good Google ranking and make your way up in Google searches. Watch my video tutorial how just a click will make a difference for your blogging strategies:
1. NoFollow – Change WordPress Core
If you are a techy and up to it, you can edit the WordPress core using the FTP or even offline. For techy this is a two minute job – 2 mouse click and they are done instead of installing and plugin and doing the settings. If you are adventerous and want to try this out, I strongly advice you to copy the origianal HTML codes and save them in your NotePad or Editor so that if something goes wrong you can always paste back the original codings.
All you need to do is to do is to remove the word nofollow. This word is located at the Appearance – Editor and on the right hand side, look for the title wp-includes/comment-template.php – look for line 148 which should look like this:
{code type=php}
$return = “$author“;
{/code}
Now all you need to do is to remove the word nofollow and save the file. That’s it. You are done. However you have to remember that each time you upgrade the WordPress, you have to do this manual setting.
2. “NoFollow” – Uploading A Plugin
This is my recommended solution especially if you are not a techy – all you need to do is to employ a plugin to do that for you. Here are some of the plugins which I tried and I reckon depending on the Theme that you are using, you will see it work for you:
a) NoFollow Free
b) Lucia’s Linky Love
c) Sem NoFollow
d) Link Love
e) DoFollow
f) Remove Nofollow
Removing this nofollow attribute is adding value to your visitors as you will be encouraging them to leave their comments, and there is nothing so important as comments because this is one of the most effective way of keeping in touch with your target group
